Our completely new design

Posted on August 9th, 2012 by Mark "Spike" Liu
We've been busy here at Leaguevine and are very happy to share with you what we've been building over the last several weeks. We hope you're as excited about this overhaul as we are. None of this would have been possible without all of your tremendous feedback and never-ending support. So here are some of the big changes you'll see around here:

New Logo and Design

Yep, we swapped out our logo. Our first one got us far, but we like this one a lot more.

We also have a brand new design that looks infinitely better than our original one. We worked with the awesome folks at draw history to get the concepts right. These guys worked at a fantastic price, gave us tons of revisions, and communicated amazingly throughout the entire process. We then worked with our design intern Andrew who helped us finish things off and he's been knocking it out of the park. We couldn't be happier with all the design help we've been getting.

Faster response times

Back in mid-June we had a big time wake up call and realized we needed to vastly improve our site's speed. We invested in some state of the art nerd tools, and sped up our servers' response times by 75%. Yes, that's not a typo. The average time it takes our servers to respond is 4 times faster than it was in June. This has resulted in a 45% improvement in average response time. Hopefully this makes our site much more enjoyable to browse. We still have many more improvements planned.

More control for organizers

There have been a few features that we've been meaning to get to for a while and we finally did. The first is the ability for anyone to add their own leagues or seasons. We've always allowed you to add your own teams/tournaments/games, but to add a league or season you used to have to email me. Thankfully you no longer have to do this, and you can create your own leagues and seasons whenever and however you want.

The second major feature we got to is that users can now add leagues for any sport, not just Ultimate Frisbee. Yesterday Roger and I created a ping pong league for The Iron Yard accelerator program we're in and people here are loving it. We're setting up an office tournament and giving the winners some vintage Leaguevine jerseys.

Focus on Player Profiles

It took us a while, but we realize now that your sport world doesn't necessarily revolve around the teams you're on, it revolves around you. So we're putting all the focus on you as a player now. Each of you now gets your own beefed up profile and you can interact directly with teammates. If you become a fan of someone, all of their games will show up in your news feed. And you can now give people props which will show up in their profiles.

Let us know on our community forums if you like or dislike what we've done with Leaguevine. We hope you enjoy our site's new look!
